Yesterday I had my first real surgery. I have had surgery in the past but I had never been put under anesthesia. I have had two surgeries before on my head. I was born with a bald spot on the back of my head and the doctors decided that they would cut it out and see if it was cancerous at all. It turned out that it wasn’t cancerous but still wasn’t a comfortable experience.
Yesterday was such a smooth surgery. I was so greatful that all the doctors did a wonderful job fixing me up. I had gotten a hernia, (most likely because of gymnastics) and they decided it would be best to go ahead and sew it back up. I got to the medical center, got signed in and was later taken back to be prepared for surgery. It was a joy taking off all of my cloths and wiping my body with disinfectant wipes. (Sarcasm). The surgery itself was not scary to me. For some reason the only scary part was having to get the IV. But it wasn’t even that bad. Just a small poke.
After I was taken back to the operating room, I was laid down on the table and put to sleep. I didn’t even remember counting down from ten or anything. It went so quickly. The next thing I knew I was waking up in a different room. I wish I could have seen what I looked like when I was asleep. I feel like that would be funny. Anyways, they always say there is some kind of side effect with the anesthesia, like grumpyness or sillyness. Apparently my side effect was extra manners.. which wasn’t that bad I guess. I was still super tires though. Couldn’t keep my eyes open.
But now I’m all better. Now I feel just great. I have a little pain in my stomach from the surgery. But its just a little soreness. I’m just thankful to God for making the surgery go so well and giving the doctors the knowledge and skill to complete the job. Hopefully I will have a speedy recovery and be back to back flipping and shouting hoops with the brother.
